Why did we move?

The number one question we get asked is, "Why did you move after 75 years at the same location, and 85 years in business? " The answer to that question is not a simple one as there were many sleepless nights deciding what to do. The short answer is that our lease was up in December of 2020 and we were offered an opportunity that was too good to pass up.

For the past ten years, the current ownership of our building has wanted to renovate. In order to do that, however, we would need to move out while the renovations were happening with the intention of moving back in when they were complete. The time frame for that was unknown, as were the multitude of uncertainties about how that would impact the operations of our business. 

In January of 2020 we were approached by the ownership of the neighboring building across the alley. (Drury Lane) At first we could not envision moving off of Girard Ave, but in the subsequent weeks, it became apparent that not only was this the right decision for the company, but we had an opportunity to reinvent Adelaide's. As Larry likes to say: "We needed to bring Adelaide's into the 21st century even if she was kicking and screaming!" 

The "new " Adelaide's embraces the many designs and features our customers have come to love and expect. We will, however, now have the opportunity to embrace a whole new generation of customers who not only buy differently, but want a shopping experience that is just that - an experience. With a large walk-in glass cooler for our customers to pick out their florals, a private area to discuss their upcoming events, weddings and home requirements, a technologically advanced retail store that allows for tighter communication, and an interactive area with the designers who can assist to make the right decisions - our customers will find the floral, plant, permanent botanical and giftware buying experience not only easier, but more satisfying. 

The new store is located at 919 Silverado - 1/2 block west of Girard Ave. (Across from the the iconic Brick and Bell) Validated parking will be available in the 7777 Fay Ave building that we anchor at the corner of Silverado St and Drury Lane. We are expanding our chocolate and gourmet items for not only gift baskets, but to have everything one needs for a host/hostess gift or for a gathering at home or the office. We soon will also have a license to carry the finest champagnes and wines. A quick call to our store will allow you to pull up to our side door entrance on Drury Lane and have one of our staff members safely bring out your flowers, plants or gourmet items to save you time and energy.
